MYKOLA DIADIURA

Was born in Kyiv. Studied at the Kyiv Tchaikovsky State Conservatoire with Roman Kofman. His conductor career began in 1987, when he won an award and the special prize of the Japanese Association of Conductors at the International Competition of Conductors in Tokyo. After competition in Japan, he was invited by Seiji Ozawa for internships in USA, where studied with Ozawa, L. Bernstein, and A. Previn.

In 1988, he won an award at the International Competition of Conductors in Budapest. During 1986-1988, Diadiura worked as an Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Omsk Philharmonic (Russia).

In 1989-1996 - Principal Conductor of the Seoul Symphonic Orchestra and the Symphonic orchestra of Kwang Dju (South Korea).

Since 1988, he has been working as a conductor of the National Opera of Ukraine. In 1996, became Chief of the Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra as its Principal Conductor, and since then has been combining an opera and philharmonic activity.

He is also a conductor-producer at the National Opera of Ukraine: "II Barbiere de Siviglia" by Rossini, "La Boheme" by Puccini, "Rigoletto" by Verdi, "Lucia di Lammermoor" by Donizetti (renewal).

With the Kyiv Philharmonic Diadiura started cycles of symphonic concerts "All symphonies of Beethoven", "All symphonies and concerts of Brahms" (dedicated to 170th anniversary of composer’s birth). First in Ukraine, he conducted works of Berlioz "Romeo and Juliet", "Te Deum" and "Requiem" (within the festival dedicated to 200th anniversary of the composer's birth), and "Coronation mass" of G. Paisiello.

In 2003 he initiated subscriptions of the orchestra "Symphony of XX century" (2003-2004), and "Robert Schumann and his contemporaries" (2004-2005) M. Diadiura is a conductor-producer of many concert performances of theatrical works on the stage of the National Philharmonia of Ukraine, in particular a mono-opera "Tenderness" of Y. Hubarenko, opera "Ruslan and Lyudmila" by M. Glinka, opera "Fidelio" by L. Beethoven, music-drama spectacle "Snowstorm" (Pushkin - Sviridov), musical-theatrical spectacle "Peer Gynt" (Ibsen - Grieg).

As a guest conductor, he worked with the philharmonic orchestras of Poland, Russia, Italy, South Korea and Japan. In the Seoul Opera he produced Puccini's "Tosca", Leoncavallo's "I Pagliacci" and Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana".

Mykola Diadiura tours extensively with the Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra in Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Poland, Turkey. He has participated in the international festivals in Ukraine ("Kyiv Music Fest" (Kyiv), "Musical premieres of season" (Kyiv), "Vladimir Krajnev invites..." (Kyiv), "Virtuosos" (Lviv) and abroad ("Le Melomany" (France), the musical festivals in St. Maximin (France), "La Chaise-Dieu" (France), the Hector Berlioz festival in La Cote de Saint-Andre (France), the International musical festival of sacred music in Marseille (France), in Bleckede (Germany), in Wroclaw (Poland), Ukraine Culture Days in Switzerland (Bern), Kyiv Festival 2005 (Kyiv) and others.

In 2003 he was awarded a state reward - Order "For the merits" of 3rd degree. In 2005 year he received France Government Reward - "Knight of Arts and Literature". "Mykola Diadiura is one of the brightest representatives of the new generation of conductors in Ukraine" - so his teacher Roman Kofman characterises him.
