Erwin Krofitsch, born 1958 in Klagenfurt, Austria, established himself as an active soloist and chamber musician. He has toured throughout Europe and Asia with artists such as Miloš Mlejnik, Siegfried Palm, Jossi Gutmann, Wolfgang David, Benjamin Schmid, Michael Martin Kofler, Zoran Markovic, Luisa Sello, Vassily Lobanov, Johannes Kropfitsch, Panocha Quartet Prague, Tartini Quartet, Jess Trio Wien, Vienna Saxophone Quartet, and Vienna Clarinet Connection. As a soloist he has performed with the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra among others.
Erwin Kropfitsch studied with Brian Lampert at the University Mozarteum Salzburg and continued his studies with Aci Bertoncelj at the Music University Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Besides performing the traditional piano and chamber music repertoire, he has encouraged a number of composers to write for him and introduced many new works to the audience. In 1994 he initiated the International composer competition “Gustav Mahler” A special project was the collaboration with the prominent Austrian author Gert Jonke.
In 1987 Erwin Kropfitsch founded the Musikforum Viktring, and later in 1998 the Internationale Musikakademie Feldkirchen which he still manages as an artistic director.
